In the hands of Anne Kyyro Quinn, felt is like Spiderman: it can do just about anything. Quinn makes felt throws, cushions, table runners and window blinds for residences and commercial locations. Quinn also makes wall panels, such as the Rosette Acoustic wall panel, which rightly steal the show. Cutting and sewing by hand, Quinn manipulates the felt into textures that mimic the natural world, like sand dune, petal bunches or sea urchins. Beyond their unique visual effect, the wall panels have acoustic qualities that reflect and insulate sound. annekyyroquinn.com.

Punk rock fashion doyenne Vivienne Westwood has teamed up with wallpaper firm Cole & Son (usually known for their classic and — dare I say — boring-ish wall coverings).

Unlike most design magazines, which tend to be proper, smut-free bastions of elegant language and terminology, design blogs push the envelope. Decorno (“décor porno”) is one such blog.

My friend Alaina lives in Chicago. She recently moved into a gorgeous new apartment that she shares with her boyfriend and their dog, Tucker. Her style is modern-meets-traditional and she has a penchant for West Elm — it’s understandable, she’s only 25!
